Dungeon World is a a fantasy tabletop roleplaying system created by Sage LaTorra and Adam Koebel. It uses the PbtA engine and was originally released in 2012 under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported License.  This wiki is a very user-friendly resource for both players and GMs.  In the context of this wiki, Classic DW content refers to anything that comes verbatim from the published rule book or official website.  Suggested DW content or DW Hacks can refer to anything posted on a fan site/forum or be unique to the ADW wiki itself.   Purchaseable DW content is published via a secondary site such as Drive By RPG.  Out of respect for those hard-working game designers who create purchasable content, only links to purchaseable are provided except for several sourcebooks likewise licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported License. What Makes Dungeon World Special?[]

Fans of D&D and Pathfinder will recognize the basic elements of Dungeon World: adventurers risk life and limb fighting fantastical monsters in fantastical locales.  Basic is a very apt word for Dungeon World.  It was born within the OSR (Old School Revival or Old School Renaissance) movement which has a nostalgic embrace the 1970s-1980s style of fantasy gaming.  Beyond this, however, Dungeon World is a very narrative-driven system where the setting and plot is derived play-by-play and session-by-session from conversations between the DM and their players rather than source material or the DM's imaginative but exclusive world building.  The GM doesn't create the world; the world evolves through the fiction of the game itself.   At first glance, the limited amount of Classic GW choices at character creation regarding elements like names, class, race, and alignment might seem very constraining.  But it creates a wonderful framework for one-shot games, for players new to roleplaying, for GMs new to running campaigns, and for groups who love spontaneous interactive fiction.

Additionally, Dungeon World was written and licensed in such a way to make it an ideal framework for creating (and publishing) original or unique content of your own.
