Gear is synonymous for Equipment . It covers anything that the adventurers are carrying or wearing. Clothes, weapons , armor , spellbooks, musical instruments, bandages, poisons , etc., are all classified as gear. Dungeon Gear is used more narrowly to include Adventuring Gear and other comsuables: items that a character will have to restock from time to time. Anything but the smallest pieces of gear typically adds load though clothing and specific item's like a bard's musical instrument may be excluded.
